The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) is the largest Greek-American organization with chapters in the United States, Canada, Australia and Greece. AHEPA was founded July 26, 1922, in Atlanta, Georgia, by Americans of Greek descent to protect Hellenes from the evils of bigotry and to help assimilate them into American society. Important issues. such as the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece and debunking attempts to detract from the accomplishments of the ancient Greeks by revisionists of history are all part of AHEPA's crusade in the preservation and promotion of Hellenism in today's society The mission of the AHEPA Family is to promote Hellenism, Education, Philanthropy, Civic Responsibility, Family, and Individual Excellence.
Our ChapterChapter 394 is based in Fort Lauderdale Florida. We were formed on April 23, 1957. In addition to the national goals of promoting Hellenism, Education, Philanthropy, Civic Responsibility, Family, and Individual Excellence, Chapter 394 has been very active in providing scholarships to deserving students from our AHEPA family. Chapter 394 offers the Danny Joanides Scholarship Fund as part of this chapter effort. Additionally AHEPA 394 has a Young Adult Program which is dedicated to the fellowship and comaraderie of the young adults of the Hellenic community. The young adult program sponsors the Opa Cruise. Look for the Opa Cruise II in 2006.
